Storybook Farm & Equine Rescue

Pica is a young mare who had already been ridden to death by unsupervised children. Unfortunately, children can ruin a horse just as much (if not worse than) an adult can. Pica had some pretty impressive back and neck issues, as well as saddle scarring on her back.

She had been ridden in a harsh bit and a tie down - bad combination. We were told she rode fine as long as you never rode her bareback. As is usually the case, she was pretty misrepresented and actually prefers bareback.

Her first few rides were interesting with her nose straight up in the air and constant head-tossing. She is doing much better now and has been adopted by one of my students, Ashley. Pica still lives here at the farm and is a much happier pony! Her photo album is here and includes some videos of her training along the way.
